When we see images showing two naked bodies, acting in intimate, sexual, and erotic situations, that usually takes place away from prying eyes, that, for the society, should not be shown to anyone, we are often shocked, we turn up our noses, and we wonder if it is normal to see them like that, on our mobile, a computer screen or printed on a surface. Most of the time, these images are judged in a negative way, but above all, they are considered vulgar. How could a natural manifestation of love, passion, horniness, and sensuality of two bodies being together to give each other pleasure, to exchange pure energy, be considered indecent?

... this is why I love Frida Castelli's illustrations. Eroticism and passion, never vulgar, but delicate, pure, and natural. Her drawings, made with inks, pantones, colored pencils, and brushes, create unique and original illustrations, but above all realistic, natural, and without taboos. You can see her work on the artist's Instagram profile, but in the meantime, I'll leave you a preview with a gallery below.

Most of her drawings tell a story. Each of her illustrations is a trace that encloses and narrates her feelings, reminding each of us, and perhaps her as well, of the wonderful and terrible feeling that is love. There is a poetic vein in her illustrations. Looking at them, I have always imagined the likely troubled love story of these two characters.

Sometimes, I have the feeling that she pictures her own story.

She expresses her love for this man by drawing their moments, instead of, for example, like I do, writing a journal. She accompanies each piece with a sentence by a writer or another artist. And each time, the caption matches perfectly the illustrated situation.

Other times, however, I have seen myself in those drawings, and so I believe that many other women have had the feeling of recognizing themselves in these romantic and sometimes sad hugs; in that connection and chemistry, in those passionate kisses, in those passion-filled eyes, and in that hunger for the other person that leads you to kiss them, and desire them so greedily.

Many times, only the female body is portrayed, intent in acts of autoeroticism, but also, in this case, never inappropriate, rather sensual and playful, including elements such as fruit in the most intimate spots. Probably the intent is to show how masturbation is something extremely natural, which we should become increase awareness of, not approaching that act as something shameful, but beautiful: the knowledge of our own body and our own pleasure.

I love that, despite the theme being explicitly erotic, these drawings stir up feelings of pure exchange of love and passion, without constraints, without inhibitions, no ifs and buts, but only emphasizing the pure chemistry, and harmony, that can exist between two people.

Not much is known about Frida, only that she lives and works in Milan and that she discloses very little information about herself. Perhaps her being anonymous gives her more freedom to express herself, although unfortunately her Instagram account has been recently heavily penalized due to the constant warnings about the contents she publishes, so she has had to create a backup one @fridacastelli_ .

During one of her few online interviews, she said:

"regarding the project I am trying to set up, it is unecessary to know who I am" -

thus letting her works speak naturally for her.

And I can only agree with her.
